Q: What was your life like before you got the vaccine?

Everyone always referred to me as a machine. I walked five kilometres up a mountain to work every day, did my shift then walked home, managed my farm, hiked in my spare time, I never slowed down. We moved our family off grid five years ago to live a more sustainable and healthy lifestyle. I never usually even took a headache tablet and lived life to the full.

Q: Would you like to share your reasons for getting vaccinated?

I was interviewed for my dream job. At the first interview I was asked about my vaccine status but thought nothing of it as the interview had gone really well, but was surprised when I didn't hear from them. After a couple of days, I received a message from the project manager saying they wouldn't employ me unless I was vaccinated but I had been the best candidate.

Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?

I had my second vaccine and within fifteen minutes I started to feel unwell. I mentioned to the nurse I felt tight chested and had pain in my left shoulder and was told to go and home and take paracetamol. My little girl was off school so we walked over the road to get a hot chocolate but I was struggling to stand up and couldn't see the money in my purse to pay. That was the last thing I remember, an ambulance was called, we stopped on the motorway to the hospital to pick up an emergency doctor and cardiac specialist and I was having a heart attack. All over Christmas I couldn't do anything without assistance, even take myself to the bathroom. I had and still have horrific joint pain which has now been diagnosed as polymyalgia. I have blinding headache that make me vomit and have considered suicide just to end the pain.

Q: What is your life like now, after getting the vaccine?

I would do anything to turn back the clock. Every day is a struggle, just standing causes pain and I can no longer play with my children as I did before. The strain that has been put on my marriage has been horrendous, I've lost my job and we are in severe financial difficulty.

Q: Share your experience with any medical care and any diagnoses you have received:

Initially, the medical care I received was great but as time has gone on and the symptoms not gone away, I have found myself getting dismissed and one doctor actually accused me of seeking drugs.

Q: Was your reaction reported, and what was the response?

The hospital took the vaccine card information but later tried to tell me it was a coincidence even though just the day before I had been given a full medical assessment for my new jobs health insurance and they found me in perfect health.

Q: Is there anything that has helped, and have your symptoms improved?

I'm currently seeking assistance from a Chinese herbalist and zinc supplements have helped with the pain.

Q: What do you wish others knew?

I just wish that we were taken seriously and were given the answers we deserve.
