UPDATE 7/7/22:
Since initially filing my story, I’ve been diagnosed with Dysautonomia which accounts for several of my symptoms. I continue to have debilitating symptoms with little reprieve. I’m currently seeing a physical therapist and working on learning how to pace myself with these adverse reactions. I’m also scheduled with a speech therapist for the brain fog I’m experiencing. Most days I’m struggling just to complete normal daily activities and have been taken off work due to some new and worsening symptoms such as, joint pain which at times feels crippling. I’ve filed a CICP claim and I’m now waiting like many others for the outcome.
ORIGINAL INTERVIEW ON 5/24/22:
Q: What was your life like before you got the vaccine?
My life was active. I was able to go out for walking/jogging/hiking several miles several days a week prior to the vaccine.
Q: Would you like to share your reasons for getting vaccinated?
I was mandated to receive the vaccine. I had to choose between getting the vaccine or losing my job of 14 years. I asked my doctors for an exemption due to previous heart issues that I recovered from, history of slow healing, and not knowing the long-term effects of the vaccine. The doctor declined my request, stating that “the reward outweighed the risk”. I reached out to my cardiologist and was told by the nurse that the doctor will not advise on getting the Covid-19 vaccines, and would not give an exemption.
Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?
I reluctantly received my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on 09/12/2021 and had a very severe reaction. I had a racing heartbeat with flip flops and severe chest pressure. Severe fatigue, cough, and severe muscle soreness. Fever, dizziness, and shortness of breath, with a pins and needles feeling throughout my body, and brain fog. My symptoms didn’t start improving for several weeks post vaccine, so I spoke to my doctors again about getting an exemption given my severe reaction. Again I was told, “the reward outweighs the risk”. I reluctantly received the 2nd dose of Pfizer on 10/03/2021 to keep my job, and again, the same severe reaction. Since then, I’ve dealt with intermittent symptoms with some getting better at times, but some continue to be debilitating and are worsening. The fatigue has been so debilitating that most days I can’t do normal things like take a shower, or go grocery shopping, without feeling like I’m exhausted and my entire body is fatigued. I continue to have issues with my heart, coughing that requires an inhaler, brain fog, dizziness, muscle soreness/weakness, along with pins and needles feeling throughout my body.
Q: What is your life like now, after getting the vaccine?
My quality of life has depreciated. I now have more bad days than good and spend most of my time resting in bed. When I have a good day or two, and try to accomplish normal every day life tasks, I end up spending the next week or so down trying to recoup.
Q: Share your experience with any medical care and any diagnoses you have received:
So far I’ve undergone numerous tests and the main issue showing up is inflammation. I did start taking 500 mg of magnesium daily that has somewhat improved my heart symptoms but hasn’t taken them away completely. I’m currently scheduled with a pulmonologist, rheumatologist, and the Covid-19 recovery clinic. Even though I never had Covid-19, the vaccine has created an immune response with symptoms similar to Covid-19 long haul symptoms so, the covid recovery clinic has agreed to accept and treat me.
Q: Was your reaction reported, and what was the response?
VAERS, just reported by my doctor this week after 7 months.
Q: Is there anything that has helped, and have your symptoms improved?
While some symptoms have improved at times, others have worsened.
Q: Have you had Covid before? What was your experience if so?
I never had Covid-19. I was tested numerous times and was negative each time.
Q: What do you wish others knew?
The vaccine is not a one size fits all! While it can be helpful to some, to others, it can create life changing, debilitating symptoms.
